The way we used to be.
We'd run around the yard together.
Racing eachother, fence to fence.
As if that was all that mattered.
I'd insist that I'd always win.
You weren't embarassed to be seen with me.
For back then, we were inseperable.
I'd cry, and you'd actually care.
Now you turn your head the other way.
We used to spend every single day together.
Through winter's flurry, and summer's heat.
We'd snowball fight, and swim together.
It didn't really matter, as long as we did it side by side.
Every single day.
You were playing right next to me.
Same interests,
Same values,
Same everything.
Almost as if you were my other half.
Most people didn't understand.
Now I know  why.
You're caught up in your 'sports' and video games.
While I run around shopping, and spending time with my girls.
Your best friends, are two assholes,
And you let them think you hate me.
You obviously didn't know how much that hurt me.
I wish we were five years old again.
Where you would acknowledge me with pride.
Family, we are, and always will be.
Even if you're running in the other direction from me.
